Director – Alexandre Dostie

Born in rural Quebec, Alexandre Dostie is a self-taught artist, poet and filmmaker, with a unique background. His short films have been screened around the world, including Sundance, Clermont-Ferrand, Tampere and TIFF. This strong public success is also recognized by the juries of festivals and academies, who rewarded his works with numerous prizes (Canadian Academy of Cinema, IRIS Quebec Cinema, Toronto Int. Film Festival, etc.) The attention for his films is also found on the Internet, where Mutants (2016) has been viewed nearly 700K times since its release as Staff Pick Premiere. I’ll End Up in Jail (2019) will also get a premier release on Vimeo next November. As a poet, his first collection, Shenley (2014), published by Éditions de l’Ecrou, is in its third reprint. The work has since been used in several plays in French-speaking Canada and in dozens of public readings. A new collection of poetry is to be published in 2021. Dostie is currently working on her first feature film, SHAPE.
