Alexia Oldini & Steven Gray are writers, directors, and activists. Their 2017 short American Dream, a day in the life of a young immigrant woman in Chinatown, NYC, premiered at the New Orleans Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Award and concluded its festival run with a Vimeo Staff Pick. Their 2019 short Grace, the story of the eviction of a young woman of color from her home, won the Special Jury Prize at IFFBoston and screened at 24 festivals internationally including the Nashville Film Festival and Tallgrass Film Festival. Their 2019 documentary short The Vision of Ulysses Davis explores the life and work of one of the foremost artists of the American South and screened at festivals including the St. Louis Film Festival and SCAD Savannah Film Festival before joining the permanent collection of the Beach Institute African-American Cultural Center in Savannah, GA. Their 2020 political short Extinction Rebellion New York City is a compilation of videos they made for the climate justice movement while designing, leading, and filming nonviolent direct actions. The film screened at The Artist’s Forum, the United Nations as part of their Sustainable Development Goals Festival as well as at Vassar College where they delivered an invited lecture on the relationship between filmmaking and activism. Their latest project, short It’s Coming It’s Real, premiered at Slamdance Film Festival in January, 2022, and will be playing festivals internationally throughout the year.
